About the New Novel:
.
SPONDERE, a Roman à clef by artist Dainca Chizu-Alita Barboza, was written as a response to Walter Tevis‘ original work of literary fiction, The Man Who Fell To Earth, and its subsequent film incarnation of the same title, directed by Nicolas Roeg in 1976 and featuring musical artist/performer David Bowie.
Included in this Special Edition print preview of Barboza‘s SPONDERE, are all the sections of the novel written previous to the passing of David Robert Jones (Bowie), to whom the book bares dedication.
According to Barboza, the concept of SPONDERE originated in 2009, with the entire mapping of its composition, its complex plot-line and intricate pros, comprised by the artist primarily throughout 2012-2016.
Available now, for the first time, only in archival hardcopy, Limited Edition Publication are –the not just those Chapters of SPONDERE written by Barboza previous to Mr. David Bowie’s recent passing in January of 2016… but likewise– the incarnation of Barboza‘s novel, comprised previous to Bowie’s announcement of his own response to The Man Who Fell to Earth, titled LAZARUS.
[David Bowie’s, LAZARUS, a musical production, was based on an original story by the artist, and featured songs excerpted from his illustrious 50-year song book. Directed by Ivo Van Hove, with book by Enda Walsh, LAZARUS made its premier at the New York Theater Workshop in Manhattan in December of 2015, just a month before Bowie’s passing, making his (likewise to Barboza, Man Who Fell to Earth–inspired) LAZARUS, significantly, one of Bowie’s last completed works submitted to the public within his lifetime.]
